When the pH is imbalanced i.e. to Acidic or to Alkaline it causes impairment of many cellular processes leading to development of diseases. In Pranayam relaxed diaphragmatic breathing balances the ratio of CO2 and O2 levels thereby balancing the Body's pH. Daily practiced of Pranayam is advised.
Breathing more than normal can 'clean' your body if you are too acidic (although it can make you very Hungary for more acidic foods afterwards too!).
